How Geothermal Works

As the seasons move from spring to winter, temperature varies throughout the year. Some climates can vary from sweltering summers to freezing winters; The Hudson Valley included. Did you know there is a fairly constant temperature, regardless of climate or season, just below the ground?

The Earth's crust absorbs 47% of the sun's heat (energy) and is sustained in the ground a few feet under the surface. Our geothermal systems extract this free heat with an earth loop. This creative technology salvages the sun's heat supplying your home or office with central heating and cooling.

Geothermal Heating

In the heating cycle, a geothermal heat pump utilizes the earth loop system to draw the heat from the ground. With delivery through a standard duct system, the geothermal system draws heat from the loops and distributes it as warm air. Other choices are available to use that same heat energy to provide hot water heating and radiant floor heat.

Geothermal Cooling

Cooling the air is just the reverse process used in the heating cycle. Warm air is driven by the geothermal heat pump into the ground. By removing the warm air, all that is left is cool air circulating throughout your home. There is no cost to heating your water during this process.
